News broke out on the net that Apple is going to dump PowerPC for Intel x86 CPUs. This news will signal the end of PowerPC as a desktop processor. This left Intel and AMD as the major players on the desktop market.
But that won’t concern alot for IBM because their got a vast market on high end server platforms running AIX with PoerPC and they will be the king of gaming console as PS3, XBox 360 and next generation Nintendo’s console will be using it as their CPU.
I wonder IBM will do what already works on Intel’s Centrino strategy with them coming out with a PowerPC optimized for gaming platform.
So let’s stay tuned for Apple’s confirmation on this news.
